Magnus Helin
With over 17 years of experience in goalie development and the last 12 of these as a full-time goaltending coach in three different countries, Magnus Helin is now back in MoDo Hockey, where he once helped talents such as Linus Ullmark and Emma Söderberg on their paths to becoming elite athletes.
In Modo Helin’s role has encompassed all levels including youth, Elite junior and Pro (male and female) as well as the role of video coach. He is also Head of Goaltending at MODO Elite Ice Hockey Academy since 2011.
2019-2021 Magnus served as Goaltending Consultant at Düsseldorfer EG, in DEL, Germany and 2021-2023 as Goaltending Coach at Red Bulls Academy Salzburg in Austria.
Magnus has a background as a teacher in sports and the Swedish language and has a holistic approach to coaching. He is a firm believer in the importance of developing all aspects of an Elite athlete – from the personality and character to their physique, technical skills, and tactical structure. He holds the highest level of Swedish Goaltending Coach Certification (Level 3).
Magnus Helin’s current role in Modo is Head of Goaltending at the club’s Hockey High School program (NIU), Goaltending Coach MoDo Womens Pro Team (SDHL) and Goaltending Coach MoDo U20 Team (U20 National). He is also Goaltending Coach for the Swedish U16 National team.
